Orlagh sadly lost her battle with meningitis on 22nd September 2010, aged 21months. She was a cheeky, chatty, energetic little girl who is terribly missed by many but who will never ever be forgotten. Orlagh contracted meningitis on the 15th August. A real tough cookie, she put up a brave fight and seemed to be slowly recovering. After 5 long weeks, she was finally strong enough to have an MRI scan but it revealed that she had suffered catastrophic brain damage and wouldn't survive. We were lucky enough to get a bed for Orlagh at Martin House children's hospice where we were able to spend time together as a family, including Orlagh's baby sister Niamh who was born on during Orlagh's illness. Orlagh passed away peacefully 3 days later, surrounded by all her family.
